Plus Size Summer Style
There was a time when the latest fashion trends and style were reserved for the slimmer woman but, today, there are several ranges that cater for plus sizes without compromising on style.
Many manufacturers acknowledge that not every woman is a supermodel; in fact, it is well known that the average woman today is a size 14 and size 16, if they want to keep the customer happy, they have to make sure that all women have a great choice of clothes.
Long gone are the tent dresses and loose-fitting tops, skirts, and trousers. Today, with a little consideration to body shape, it is possible for larger women to look just as fashionable as their slimmer friends in fabulous plus size womens fashion.
Plus-sized women can wear summer dresses with style, especially if they stick to wearing slimming colours – a straight shift-style dress, all in one colour, will provide a slimming tailored effect and can be worn with bold contrasting accessories to make it stylish. Summer prints will look stunning as long as the size of the print is chosen carefully. Larger women can really carry off a big bold print which would swamp a smaller woman. Opting for an empire line waist, which is slightly higher than the natural waist, will give the illusion of a taller slimmer figure.
For separates, try teaming skirts and jeans with tops and jackets that just skim the hips. Too short and they will highlight problem areas like a large tummy; too long and they will make the legs look shorter. If you have a great cleavage, avoid high-necked tops which will make the bust look bigger; instead, accentuate the bust line with a flattering v-neck which will make the waist look slimmer.
Accessories today come in all style and colours but most popular are the big chunky necklaces, earrings and bangles which plus size ladies can wear with real flair, along with one of this season’s oversized handbags.
Today, there’s no reason why larger women cannot look as trendy as anyone on the catwalk.
