• Hottest Shoe Trends

hot trends womens shoesWe are early in the year but already we have seen some of the hottest new trends take the fashion world by storm. Shoes styles are putting twists on traditional looks, and inventing all new styles and color combos in ladies shoes. Fabrics and materials are also seeing big changes, bringing back some old favorites and trying something new in familiar styles. Here are some of the hottest trends so far this year.

    - Suede! A material that has come and gone in the fashion world many times over, and this year, it is in, in, in! And we’re not just talking about your favorite pair of winter boots, but this familiar material is now being featured in sexy evening shoes, such as slingback pimps. Check out these beautiful, cobalt, peep toe heels from Moda in Pelle. Suede is also not commonly known for coming in a variety of colors. We often think of khaki or tan, something in the muted family of colors, but not this year. We are seeing suede really pop, in colors ranging from yellow, to red, to blue. This is a great texture to add to your shoe collection, considering it is just so versatile. It’s appropriate for the office, and great for a night out.

    - Sequins! We have seen it on just about everything this year, but now we are seeing it in shoes. If a sequined top isn’t your style, you should consider sequined stilettos as a way to add some flair to your outfit. Sequins are the epitome of the evening look, with it’s fun and shiny nature, you are bound to be noticed. Wear a black pair of sequined heels with your favorite pair of jeans and a slinky top. Or, wear a cute pair of sequined flats with some skinny jeans for a new look.

    - Wedges! A great alternative to heels, with a fantastic vintage and retro feel, wedges are taking over the world of shoes with a vengeance. Most women who do not like heels, or feel they can’t walk confidently in them, really covet the wedge style shoe. This combines the platform with the heel for a more stable, flat surface to walk on. It is much easier to balance, and very comfortable. The best styles that suit the wedge are slingbacks in bold, solid colors, very reminiscent of the 1950s. You can also found adorable peep toe wedges, in a fun pattern such as paisley for a more country girl look.

  • Stylish Winter Attire

womens jacketsWinter means breaking out the warmer clothing to layer up against the cold. But this doesn’t have to mean you’re condemned to a season without style! Womens jackets don’t have to be frumpy, over sized, or unflattering. There are plenty of shapes, styles and cuts that can compliment your body, and your sense of style. Winter no longer means drab outer wear, now you have more options than every to express your personality with bold colors, fun patterns, and trendy embellishments.

Finding clothes that match your sense of style and flatter your body type at the same time can be difficult, but it makes the difference between looking good, and looking amazing. The same goes for winter coats, jackets, and sweaters. You may have to be layering up to venture out into the snow, but you can still look like you lost ten pounds with the right coat. This is all about tailoring. If you have a favorite blazer, you want it to fit you properly, same goes for you coat. A well tailored and form fitting coat can work wonders for the dull winter season. Here are some other key points you should consider when buying yourself a new winter coat.

Color: pick something bold! You don’t have to go with khaki, or muted colors just because the weather seems muted. Give yourself some color in this long winter weeks. Go with a solid kelly green, or a bold pattern such as houndstooth or paisley. Just like the summer months when you feel fabulous and energized because of your outfit, you can feel the same in Winter, when you’re most likely to need it!

Cut: depending on your body type, you will need to find a jacket that fits you in all the right places. There are cuts that hit just bellow the bust, and then taper out, which is called the “empire waist”, this is good for hiding the stomach. If you have a boyish figure, with few curves, you can accentuate your waist by getting a coat with a belt, or that has it’s tightest point at the natural waist. This creates the infamous hourglass shape.

Embellishments: these can work for you, or against you, so choose wisely. Things like double breasted buttons can make you appear wide, where lapels can balance out large hips and make the shoulders appear wide.
